Most Popular movie rental estore Netflix has introduced a feature that allows customers to immediately stream and watch movies and television programmes on their PCs.
People will have the option of instantly watching about 1,000 movies and TV series, and the new feature will be included in subscribers’ monthly membership plans at no additional cost.
Netflix expects to make the service available to all subscribers by the end of June.
The hours available for instant watching will vary based on subscribers’ monthly plans. Subscribers on the entry-level $5.99 plan will have six hours of online movie watching per month. (more…)

TVknob.com is another youtube.com like website which is now concentrating on taking web broadcasting to the next level. They have plans to start TV broadcast service with interactive web portal communities and original programming.
TVKnob’s Video and Audio Player is developed by Doug Watkins, these players will allow users to access music and videos by independent broadcasters, and choose from an cluster of online television and radio stations with multiple channels. (more…)

Verizon Wireless announced a distribution deal with YouTube and also with another popular video sharing website Revver to stream limited content over its V Cast service. What makes this deal particularly interesting is the fact that through Revver’s signature revenue sharing system, content creators have the opportunity to make money from having their videos available on V Cast.
At the end of user uploaded videos, Revver inserts a short advertisement, with Revver splitting any profit made from the ad 50/50 with the video’s creator. This system will extend to videos viewed from a mobile handset over the Verizon Wireless V Cast service, though instead of adding an advertisement, Revver will split the fee Verizon pays for the video with the creator. Verizon Wireless and YouTube have today announced a deal where Verizon will offer select videos from YouTube to customers over its V CAST service.
While financial specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, customers will be able to access the videos starting in December this year.
The deal is likely Verizon’s way of bringing advanced mobile services like video to the masses, as such services have so far only received a lukewarm reception in the US. (more…)

Google Inc.’s online video service has been sued for copyright infringement, providing a possible preview of the legal trouble that may plague the Internet search leader after it takes over YouTube Inc. and its library of pirated clips, the company said Wednesday.
Without providing detail, Google disclosed the video copyright lawsuit in a quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A Google spokesman didn’t have any further information about the suit late Wednesday afternoon. (more…)

Sharp’s MP-E300, has 1GB of memory, and the MP-E200, has only 512MB. Both players are available in 3 different colors: silver, black and gold.
They have a miniSD port, measure 87.6×49x7.9mm (yes, you read correctly, 7.9mm) and weight 62g. Sharp gave the player plenty of features, with a FM tuner and FM transmitter, support for MP3, WMA, WM DRM10 and AAC, and compatibility with Napster.
You can also record the radio directly into the player’s memory. This DAP is surprisingly good looking and a luxury to carry around. (more…)

Check out the New Toshiba DVD players. The interesting “black” player is the SD-P50DT. It measures 138×31x153mm and weights 650g. It supports DivX and MP3, has a 1Seg TV tuner, and a 5” display (480×234).
SD-P50DT has a cool design that downright appeals, the SD-P90DT is not behind. It has the same features as the P50DT, with an additional support for WMA. It has a 9″ display (800×480), measures 261×179x37mm and weights 1.3kg.

Talks are ongoing about a possible deal, that will bring YouTube content to Verizon’s V Cast 3G video service through Verizon Wireless, Verizon Communications’ joint venture mobile operator with Vodafone. Under the terms of the agreement, Verizon could also offer YouTube content on demand through the company’s FiOS TV service.
YouTube, which was just acquired by Google for US$1.65 billion, this has been revealed in a report by the Wall Street Journal that Verizon Communications is in ‘advanced talks’ to bring its online content to other mediums, such as mobile handsets and cable TV.

The new Linux-based home multimedia distribution system generated the loudest buzz at this year’s CEDIA (custom electronic design and installation association) trade show, according to Computer Reseller News, which has published a feature article previewing Monster’s ultra-high-end “Einstein” system, expected to ship by March next year.
According to CRN, Einstein product manager Chris Greene credits Linux with enabling Monster to behave “more like a consumer electronics legacy device, eliminating the boot process that delays start-up and shut-down.” (more…)
