YouTube Mobile and YouTube Remixer are out! YouTube Mobile is the mobile version site that lets the 3G users stream video to their phone.

This page also allows uploading of YouTube videos directly to cellphones through MMS.

Ipod can get banned in NY

ipod-ny.jpgReuters have today reported that New York inhabitants who carelessly cross the street listening to an iPod or talking on a cell phone could soon face a $100 fine.New York State Sen. Carl Kruger says three pedestrians in his Brooklyn district have been killed since September upon stepping into traffic while distracted by an electronic device. In one case bystanders screamed “watch out” to no avail.

Kruger says he will introduce legislation on Wednesday to ban the use of gadgets such as Blackberry devices and video games while crossing the street. (more…)

TVKnob’s Web TV on Social Forums

Revver Content on Verizon’s V Cast

revver.jpgVerizon Wireless announced a distribution deal with YouTube and also with another popular video sharing website Revver to stream limited content over its V Cast service. What makes this deal particularly interesting is the fact that through Revver’s signature revenue sharing system, content creators have the opportunity to make money from having their videos available on V Cast.

At the end of user uploaded videos, Revver inserts a short advertisement, with Revver splitting any profit made from the ad 50/50 with the video’s creator. This system will extend to videos viewed from a mobile handset over the Verizon Wireless V Cast service, though instead of adding an advertisement, Revver will split the fee Verizon pays for the video with the creator. Zune has chance to take iPod market share: survey

zune.jpgReuters have reported that Microsoft Corp. may have a chance to take market share from the iPod as a Reuters survey showed 35 percent of those interested in its Zune device would be replacing an existing digital music player.

Microsoft, the world’s No. 1 software company, two weeks ago began selling the Zune, which analysts have called its most serious effort yet to compete with Apple Computer Inc.’s (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) iPod, the best-selling player by far.

Apple has sold more than 70 million iPods since its introduction in October 2001, and the iPod now commands more than a 70 percent share of the U.S. market for MP3 players, as they are also known. Microsoft has itself acknowledged that it may take years for its Zune effort to take effect. (more…)

YouTube Content on Verizon Mobile Handsets

vcast.jpgVerizon Wireless and YouTube have today announced a deal where Verizon will offer select videos from YouTube to customers over its V CAST service.

While financial specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, customers will be able to access the videos starting in December this year.

The deal is likely Verizon’s way of bringing advanced mobile services like video to the masses, as such services have so far only received a lukewarm reception in the US. (more…)

Toshiba’s 1GB P10K and 2GB P20K Gigabeats

Based on their earlier release of this flash-based line was the 512MB / 1GB P5L multi-colored premium edition, this time pink and white are the only two colors chosen for the 1GB P10 and white only for the 2GB P20, but both models can change it up with removable faceplates.

Besides the capacity of the P5L and P10L, a 1.1-inch color OLED, MP3 / WMA / WAV / PlaysForSure support, line in / voice / FM recording, and a 14-hour rechargeable battery. Scheduled for release in early December, the P20 is priced around $153, while the smaller P10 will be priced around $119. (more…)

Microsoft and Universal Make Zune Deal

zune1.jpgMicrosoft Corp. says it had struck a deal with Universal Music Group aimed at allowing the company to do more with a feature of its Zune portable music player that lets people share songs over a wireless connection.

Under the deal, Universal will receive a payment for every Zune player sold, in exchange for which Universal will provide more access to artists and rights to music.

Chris Stephenson, general manager of global marketing for Microsoft, declined to comment on the financial specifics of the deal late Wednesday, beyond saying that it called for the record label to share the payments it is receiving from Microsoft with Universal Music Group artists. (more…)

Google Inc.’s online video service sued

youtube-google1.jpgGoogle Inc.’s online video service has been sued for copyright infringement, providing a possible preview of the legal trouble that may plague the Internet search leader after it takes over YouTube Inc. and its library of pirated clips, the company said Wednesday.

Without providing detail, Google disclosed the video copyright lawsuit in a quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A Google spokesman didn’t have any further information about the suit late Wednesday afternoon. (more…)
