Foobar 2000 might not be made for Linux but it is the most customizable music player in the market right now. You can customize it from head to toe as per your needs but one of the most disappointing feature of Foobar is that it doesn’t come with equalizer presets. It assumes you to be musically sound and leaves you to set the equalizer manually.

You can although download few equalizers which have been created by some users at Hydrogenaudio forums.

Some of the links there do not work so I have put all the equalizers in one zip file and uploaded on Rapidshare.

I have not created these equalizers and the credit must go to the Hydrogenaudio users hearbar and nyarlathotep.

We talked about an iPhone application called Flycast which lets users to listen to online streams. It has a client for Apple iPhone and Blackberry. Flycast is now also available for your PC as they have created an desktop app which is based on Adobe Airtime.

Since the application is based on on Adobe AIR, so it can run on Mac, Windows, and Linux computers. Flycast supports over 100o radio channels while it has support for shoutcasts as well. You can access most of the iTunes stations as well provided you have good connection.

The capabilities are rudimentary compared to other wireless-enabled DAPs with web browsers, but it’s nice for streaming and downloading content from the Creative media server (Creative MediaBox) or one you have at home.

The player can also use its wireless radio for instant messaging. Official documentation mentions compatibility with Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger, but at the moment it seems that only Creative’s own chat app is supported.

Zen Mosaic MP3 players were only available in Singapore but now they have finally been launched in USA. The player is available in three storage capacities of 2 GB, 4 GB & 8GB and has pretty unconventional styling which people would either love or loathe. The player doesn’t just play music as it can also be used to manage contacts and calendar. Unlike Apple iPod it has a built in radio where you can listen to up to 32 radio stations.

Zen also brings you a Mosaic Pack you can use to customize the look of you player according to your mood. You will obviously have to pay extra for it.

The price of 2GB player is $ 59.99 and it is only available in Black variant on their US site as of now. The price for the 4GB player is $ 79.99 and it also available in Black color only. 8 GB player is not available in their stores and thus its price is not known.

Yahoo will be shutting down it’s DRM (Digital Rights Management) servers on September 30.  As a result, all music purchased from Yahoo! Music will no longer be able to transfer to computers or devices they are working on. Due to the Yahoo’s migration services to the Rhapsody music service.

Yahoo has announced that it will “compensate” anyone who has bought DRM music files though Yahoo! Music. For customers of Yahoo! Music, the service will be transferred over to Rhapsody.

Creative has launched the details of its new Zen Mozaic MP3 player, as a new addition to their Zen V Plus series. It’s currently available only in Singapore, the Creative Zen Mozaic is offered in three colors (silver, pink, and black) and is going to be in three capacities (2GB, 4GB, and 8GB).

The Mozaic’s features include a 1.8-inch screen, FM tuner, voice recording, photo viewer, video playback, calendar, built-in speaker, and support for MP3, WMA, WAV, and Audible audio formats. There’s no telling when the Zen Mozaic will be available in US. Estimated cose is around $80-$150.

Album art has definitely gone out of reach for people who prefer “less commercial ways” to obtain music. You can definitely download the missing album art if you have purchased the music from iTunes store which I believe is not something most of us do.

You can also get the missing album art using this website. You have to save a list of songs in your iTunes library and then upload it on this website. You can do so by following this sequence File>Export> Save as text file. Your saved text file is now ready to be uploaded on the website I mentioned above. The website will crawl the web to yield the album art for you in few seconds. You can save the image with the corresponding song in your iTunes library. It is completely free while the only problem is that this method is pretty time consuming.

Reuters have today reported that New York inhabitants who carelessly cross the street listening to an iPod or talking on a cell phone could soon face a $100 fine.New York State Sen. Carl Kruger says three pedestrians in his Brooklyn district have been killed since September upon stepping into traffic while distracted by an electronic device. In one case bystanders screamed “watch out” to no avail.

Kruger says he will introduce legislation on Wednesday to ban the use of gadgets such as Blackberry devices and video games while crossing the street.

“Government has an obligation to protect its citizenry,” Kruger said in a telephone interview from Albany, the state capital.

“This electronic gadgetry is reaching the point where it’s becoming not only endemic but it’s creating an atmosphere where we have a major public safety crisis at hand.”
