Wii Sports Game Nominated

Wii Sports from Nintendo is nominated in seven award categories at 2007 British Academy Video Games Awards. This is going to be held in London Games Festival at Battersea Evolution on 23 October.

Wii Sports can become Game of the year. Nintendo’s Wii Sports also has good chances of winning in multiplayer, strategy & innovation categories.

Other popular nominations are for Microsoft’s Gears of War and Crackdown for the Xbox 360 and Sony’s God of War 2 for the PlayStation 2.

The Xbox 360 from Microsoft Corp., meanwhile, has had a yearlong head start to build a fan base.By touting intuitive controls over fancy graphics, Nintendo Co. has billed its Wii as a simpler, cheaper alternative to Microsoft’s and Sony’s offerings.

If you compare the trio to automobiles, said Bruno Bonnell, chairman and chief creative officer at publishing giant Atari Inc., the PS3 “is a kind of prototype Formula 1. The Wii is definitely a fun car, a Mini Cooper or a Beetle, something that everybody can enjoy riding. The 360 fulfills so much of the demand of the standard player, it’s one of the Toyotas or standard GM cars.”

Nintendo launches new dev tool for Wii

nintendo_logo-150-150.jpgNintendo has announced the launch of LiveMove, a new development tool designed to make the process of producing titles for the Wii easier and faster.

LiveMove was created by Californian artificial intelligence specialist AiLive with involvement from Nintendo. It allows developers to “train” the Wii remote within minutes simply by performing motions.

“LiveMove will allow the game industry to move away from indirect digital control to more natural analog control for the first time,” said AiLive chairman Dr. Wei Yen. (more…)
