One of the trend in mobile space that has emerged in last few years is that of luxury phones. Many mobile manufacturers have tried making and selling these luxury phones after collaborating with the luxury brands but somehow they haven’t proved to be as successful as the regular ones. It’s obvious by now that most mobile users seek function over look.

It has however not deterred Sony Ericsson to launch a Dolce & Gabbana “Jalou” and I don’t know what this name means. It is going to be launched in two version: one would be a basic one while another being a limited edition model. The clamshell design with that ultra stylish powder case will definitely appeal to high maintenance ladies. As for us lesser mortals or geeks we’d just give a tiny little look at the specs and move on.

Jalou has a diamond shaped design with a two inc display (that’s small for me), 3.2 MP camera with video recording, an FM tuner, Bluetooth 2.0. multimedia player. web browser and quad-band GSM / tri-band HSPA connectivity. Did I also tell you that it has a mirror, yes a real real mirror. The limited version is going to be 24k gold-plated while the normal version will be available in Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black. Expected to be in market around the beginning of next year.

After we have seen the X2 earlier today, now we’re going to take a closer look at the Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X3 aka Rachael. The first Sony Ericsson Android phone has some specs available now so let’s see them.

The camera has an 8x digital zoom and LED flash, plus image stabilization, smile shutter and face detection. It can also record VGA-quality 30fps video. Meanwhile the smartphone supports SMS, MMS, POP, IMAP and Exchange email, has a microSDHC card slot and a mini-USB port, plus a standard 3.5mm headphone socket, dualband 900/2100MHz HSDPA (10Mbps) and HSUPA (2Mbps) as well as Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi b/g and A-GPS.

The XPERIA X3’s display is listed as measuring 4-inches and running at 800 x 400 resolution, and we’re assuming it’s a capacitive panel as has been the case to-date with Android handsets. No word on pricing or availability.

Sony Ericsson Raphael got surfaced through the leaked images few days back. It has now again made its presence felt with the leaked video of its User Interface. Sony Ericsson Raphael is the more advanced Xperia and it will called SE Xperia X5. It will be powered by Android and the recent videos displays the cosmetic changes made to the user interface to make it look more attractive. It should be kept in mind that the similar UI transformation attempt has also been made by HTC for HTC Hero which is another Android based mobile device.

The revamped user interface shown in the video is indeed impressive. The way it demonstrates the social apps such as twitter and facebook is amazing. More images of the Sony Ericsson Raphael have also surfaced and this time it looks more polished. Take a look.

The W995a is a 3G-enabled phone (850/1900/2100MHz UMTS/HSPA) that’s geared towards folks seeking a premium multimedia experience. Primary functionality includes snapping photos and video, playing music and videos, or accessing the internet, and our first-impressions of the W995a is that it’s a high-quality, compact way of doing all that.

The W995a is also equipped for WiFi access, and includes stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) support for use with wireless headphones. Bundled with the W995a there’s a set of “premium” 3.5mm headphones, an 8GB Memory Stick Micro card (which wasn’t provided in our review unit) and a USB connector cable.

The 2.6-inch QVGA display is gorgeous, even though it’s LCD and not AMOLED like Sony’s recent Walkman PMP and there’s plenty of sturdy and tactile metal used in building the casing and the buttons.

The Sony Ericsson W995a also comes with Media Go software, the newly announced media software that will allow you to access show and movies, as well as transcode video and music files optimized for the W995a hardware features.

As a Walkman player it uses dedicated physical playback buttons, supporting all the standard audio formats and including a built-in FM radio with presets. It also has Clear Stereo and Clear Bass technology, which Sony says enhances the audio quality, avoiding “channel leakage” and “bass distortion”.

Sony Ericsson created the W995a for those who are up on the latest in mobile phone design, technology and feature sets and typically purchase unlocked phones for their added features and flexibility to switch phones whenever the latest and greatest is available. Doing so through Sony themselves mean you’re also getting a warranty and access to their Sony Ericsson partner network, just in case something goes wrong with the handset.

Sony Ericsson has presented their very first touch-screen slider phone with the name Sony Ericcson Aino. The design of this device is indeed something new for touch-screened devices, and it also comes complete with a slide-out alphanumeric keys.

The Sony Ericsson Aino is a powerful multimedia device that has support for Remote Play with PlayStation 3, which allows users to control and access media content on the PS3 using this mobile phone. Aside from that, this also has a large 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, which indeed makes this a multimedia-centric device.

The screen size is 3 inches and has 240 x 432 pixels resolution and accelerometer. This phone also has support for GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth, and motion gaming; and also applications such as instant messaging, Facebook, and YouTube. It comes equipped with 8GB microSDHC card in the box, and it doesn’t use M2 cards.

This Sony Ericsson Aino is to be available sometime during the early Q4 of 2009 in Luminous White and Black Obsidian colors.
