Trapster, Speed Trap App for Mobile Phones

Published in Mobile Applications by sushaantu

The Trapster is a mobile application if you are too fond of fast driving but are don’t want tickets if you get caught by the police. Trapster is a mobile application which  turns your phone into a police radar. Trapster informs you whenever there is a police trap near you while driving. It lets people with GPS enabled phones document the exact location of a speed trap or red light camera.

It works across a wide range of mobile platform that alerts users as they approach a speed trap. Trapster relies on its users to get the location of speed traps. Users can inform the location by pressing a button on your phone, or calling a toll free number. Trapster uses the GPS and wireless location, voice transcription, geocoding, reverse geocoding, and SMS, with a central database server in order to process this information which can then be used by other Trapster users.

By installing the application on your mobile phone you’ll get heads up on speed cameras, red-light cameras, hiding places, and live police while out and about. There’s support for Jott, a voice-to-text service, so that you can make a report and still keep your hands on the wheel. The coolest part, though, is that Trapster will warn you through your mobile phone if you’re approaching any of the speed traps it knows about. Trapster application runs on  Nokia Smart phones, Black Berries, and phones with Windows Mobile 5 or 6. If you don’t want to keep Trapster running all the time, you can just turn on SMS alerts to be informed when a new trap is reported in your area.
