Voip Calls Through your Mobile Phone

Published in Internet, VoIP by Aditi Tuteja

logo4.gifAnother Web2.0 Application which is well equipped to allow use of your mobile phone to make international and long-distance calls at the rate of a local call using Rebtel’s VoIP system which helps connect you with your friends to talk for hours on end.

Rebtel allows you to call anybody in the world at the rate of a local call. The way Rebtel works is that you need to tie-up with the service and you are given a ‘Rebtel number’ with which you can call a friend anywhere else in the world, at the rate of a local call.

Here’s an example, if you are in San Francisco you get a local San Francisco number for calling your friend in London, and your friend in London gets a local London number for reaching you in San Francisco. The two local calls are then connected using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). This procedure, although a little long, is essential for the Rebtel call cycle to get activated, or else you might just be talking to each other on International call rates.

You can then call each other as often as you like, for as long as you want, at the cost of a local call plus a small surcharge. What’s more is that if you haven’t used Rebtel throughout the week to make a call then you do not get charged at all.
