Wikipedia introduces iPhone App

Published in Ajax by sushaantu

Wikipedia has launched an official iPhone application which is now available for free on the iTunes App Store. The application is pretty simple with no fancy stuff that you might want to ask yourself why in the world you downloaded it when you could have just pointed your Safari browser to the mobile version of wikipedia to get the desired information.

The Wikipedia iPhone doesn’t really offer any compelling features that you users download it over just browsing the mobile version of the website. It is however in a very initial stage and Wikimedia Foundation promises that improvements will be made based on the user feedback and suggestions.

It also stresses that the code of the applications is 100% open source and community built and any geek can tinker with it create a better version of the app. Be my guest.
