XBMC Media Center is a hot commodity on SourceForge so I decided to give it a try on my Windows PC. Since XBMC has not been completely ported on to Windows so I was expecting bugs to creep up while using it. XBMC on Windows is in very early stage of development so some bugs are obvious. I downloaded the application (32 Mb in size) and gave it a try.
First of all the resolution of the XBMC was smaller than the default resolution of my monitor so I had to start the application in windowed form. The feel of the media center is awesome and you can access all your media on hard disk in few clicks. There is no major change in the GUI from that of Xbox and I could play all the video file types I had in my computer. It has an option of browsing Apple movie trailers but there was some problem with it.
I could only hear the music on XBMC Media Center after turning the volume button to extreme right on my speakers which is another way of saying that volume can not be changed on XBMC as of yet. There is wiki for the developers who might be interested in bringing some sanity in XBMC and bringing it at par with that on XBOX. I can keep on writing about the flaws of XBMC but the intention of this post is to convey the developers or general users who want to make contribution to create a stable version of XBMC. I have liked whatever good I have experienced of it and I would certainly like a bug free version of XBMC Media Center as soon as possible.
