Gamers away from their Xbox 360 may get a text message sent to their cell phone alerting them that their friends are playing.In a service reported to be operational within the next six months, players will be able to compose and send text messages from the Xbox 360 to mobile phones. The move would integrate the Xbox Live online gaming service with Microsoft’s existing instant messaging (IM) client, MSN Messenger.

Since Microsoft’s Xbox 360 debut in November, the tech giant has been looking for new ways to connect it to its already ubiquitous world of software.
